Solstice (mini Urban Decay scoop!)

Hola amigos! I have been offline for a few days (except for Instagram @killercolours of course) as I borrowed Fröken Rosa over the weekend. Browsing the museum of natural history, haunted houses, talking shit, drinking violet drinks, all you could ever ask for. I had this makeup look photographed when she arrived on Wednesday and then just let it gooooo LET IT GOOOO until life went back to normal. We miss you already Des!

This makeup look was just a “let’s try EVERYTHING!” with a bunch of new Urban Decay products, actually matching them was secondary. Well, products that are to me. Cult faves for most beauty nerds. I’m late on this one, OK??

Naked Skin Foundation is really dry on my skin and needs some extra moisture prep to feel nice, but it looks amazing. The shade 1.0 is probably my best shade match ever, it is warm without leaning peachy or yellow. Once my slight summer colour is gone this will be the perfect match for my natural skin tone. Shoutout to all my fair-neutralish-warmish-greenish friends!

Naked Skin Concealer in Fair Neutral has beautiful thin skin-like formula but is a tad too cool toned for me, I will probably try Light Warm aswell. I wish there was a Fair Warm though?

Moondust Eyeshadow in Solstice is also an oldie, but I never understood how different it is from other similar shades until I saw it in person. It’s like a warm pinky copper base (not the usual orange-y brown!) with a bright teal shimmer that shifts to pastel pink. I pushed it all over the lids with a finger, it is so pretty!

Afterglow Highlighter in Fireball is easily my favourite out of the bunch. Probably made for a darker skin tone, but it has a bright apricot base and blue/magenta shimmer, it looks so insane!! It’s the only thing I’m wearing on my cheeks here, it totally doubles as a blush. So weird and pretty.

See how the intense apricot base and blue shimmer of Fireball take each other out and turn into this spooky pink? Love it!! And Solstice is just pure magic with its intense cyan sparkle.

Let’s blog about fashion, baby

Time to turn this blog into a fashion blog, we need to dial things up a bit!

EBay is the ultimate clickbait. It’s far worse than Buzzfeed articles, no joke! Especially when you get stuck in Chinese fashion shops, they are just BURSTING with cool expressions in made up English. Well THANK YOU west for tattooing our language on your bodies in the 90′s like idiots, now we’ll wear your language however we want!! HA!

All of these are found browsing words like “fashion top cute summer shirt design funny”, enjoy the endless scrolling. Kthxbai!

Let’s start with some minimalistic design.

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick “Underage Red”

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in the colour Underage Red has been my staple red this spring and summer. I got a little free sample of it with a Sephora purchase and used half of it up, the other half got mushed in a bag and I felt such unexpected sorrow!! Went to Sephora on the same day and bought a full sized tube.

Underage Red is called a “matte fire engine red” and that’s exactly what it is. It is super vibrant and flat matte, you can almost throw it on in the morning and wear it all day without touchups. Just prep your lips with lip balm before to get the smoothest result, it your lips are super crusty it will show, and it won’t be too comfortable. I like that about it though, it really locks into place and you don’t ever have to worry about it sneaking off.

The colour itself is unlike all reds in my collection, it’s noticeably lighter than a classic red and just SO VIBRANT! It has the slightest pink undertone which makes it very brightening, definitely great on all skintones. If red lips is your jam you can’t miss out on this one!

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Underage Red. I love the studded packaging! It is a bit lightweight and I wish it had a better snap when you close it, but who can whine about something this cute?

Gold

Inglot Scandinavia were so sweet and sent me a little package of luvvv containing products that all were 100% my taste, I’m so excited to dig through them! Thank you so much! <3 Just look at this gold pigment for example, my brain just exploded. It doesn’t even look a tenth as amazing photographed as it does in real life, it’s like a gritty gold leaf with a drop of bronze. When rubbed into the eyelid, especially over a sticky base, it turns into a solid foil. So crazy!

The other day I wore it on top of a brown eyeshadow, just smacked it on with a finger and brushed the fallout off my cheeks (because can’t deny it, there’s quite a bit with this much shimmer). Who can resist this glam rock goodness?

Family

Vulnicura, the most recent album by the queen of Iceland (aka Björk), really stirs up my soul. I have been listening to it non stop lately, and the video for the song called Family is so clever and beautiful, it had me diving into my drawer of single shadows yesterday and I did something (??) inspired by the beautiful colour scheme. Not sure what it ended up being to be honest?

Overall this look is done with ColourPop Hustler eyeshadow, the Viseart Editorial Brights palette and an old green loose pigment with Illamasqua Sealing Gel. All that white stuff is a white foundation brushed all over with a spoolie.
