Lipstick Queen Velvet Rope Lipstick “Black Tie”

Ge mig!

Black Tie from Lipstick Queen has been my muse lately, but we had a stormy relationship that we luckily got back on track even though we ended up with some scraped knees. Shall we take it from the beginning?

During late spring I finally eneded up ordering one of the Lipstick Queen Velvet Rope lipsticks, a luxury line of heavy gold tubes screaming of old Hollywood. It ends up after a long wait and what has happened? The lipstick is smushed at the top. As if the tube was closed with the lipstick not twisted down properly. I contach HqHair and ask for my money back and they offer me 10% (which is 3.5 pounds, well thanks a LOT). I said hell no because it’s an unacceptable sum of money as I didn’t order a broken luxury product, but I end up giving up after a while because they really won’t refund the full price. I start using the lipstick thinking that I’ll have to photograph it when I’ve used it past the smush, and at the same time tell you not to order from HqHair unless you’re into bad customer service.

So, there’s a bitter story for ya! Buy it from Feelunique (if you’re in Europe) or straight from the Lipstick Queen website (US) instead.

The lipstick itself is a dream. A satin matte silky formula that feels thin and soft on the lips, glides on without a problem and it has a nice cooling effect thanks to the peppermint oil. Wears very well and doesn’t feel drying on the lips. Black Tie is a deeper classic red that leans a bit cool toned. It’s light enough to not feel blackened, but it’s definitely a no-bullshit drama red. SO nice, and it’s surprisingly perfect with super slacky outfits and quick everyday makeup looks. Now I want bright red Brat Pack and the really dark and vampy Entourage aswell, or the entire line for that sake.. Gimme!

Shimmering Sun

Todays look! I layered two lippies (a bright orange and a pinky coral red) so the lips would match the rest of my look, a yellow dress and coral red nails, and it turned into a bright and warm coral red. I should have something that looks just like this but without all the mixing, shouldn’t I? The eyeshadow matches aswell, a super soft wash of a bright peach with gold shimmer. I love to wear a consistent colour theme.
