Fall lipstick favourites from NARS – Afghan Red & VIP Red

I’ve worn these two lipsticks all the time lately, NARS are known for making beautiful reds and these are no exceptions. Both are very dirty in tone and on their own side of the red colour spectrum.

Afghan Red is a muted, garnet red. Definitely cool toned but not at all leaning purple. A really different colour that doesn’t look like anything else I own! It makes me feel like a 20′s hottie in disguise? The formula has a slight translucency and shine which makes it look extra effortless, great semi-dark everyday red. This is a permanent shade, satin formula.

VIP Red is a muted brick red. Very warm toned and leaning towards brown but it doesn’t give me that 90′s anxiety I so often get. Sure thing, we all feel the nod towards 90′s Drew Barrymore but it feels updated and like a new take on the (in my opinion very scary) trend. Less poopy, more matte and dusky! This is a limited edition shade which is part of the fall 2015 collection, semi matte formula.

Rags to Riches

Hi babes! I havsn’t posted anything in a really long time, sorry for that! I’ve gone back to work now so there’s a lot occupying my mind. Here’s a makeup look though! Not the best picture but I’m wearing a lipstick that has become a solid favourite of mine. I rarely wear pinky corals as they wash me out but Rags to Riches is so yummy! There’s something special about this shade.

Pixie Dust

I posted a picture on Instagram (@killercolours) showing you my little weirdo eyeshadow palette, the one where I put colours that don’t look good any other palette. Some of you pointed out that these six shades actually look really nice together, I hadn’t even thought about actually matching them.

Today I went ham on the weirdo palette and tried to make a wearable look out of all these six shades (picture of it at the end of the post!). I ended up using every single one except for Citron. So close! Haha.

In all the look is lime green Pixie Dust on the eyelids, turquoise Sea Mist along the lashlines + in the deepest part of the crease, hot pink Catleya feathered at the edges, pale golden Yellow Brick Road as a inner corner highlight and at last pale iridescent green Zoe patted on the center of the lime green areas for extra dimension.

60′s Kitten

I haven’t worn anything matte pitch black in yeeeears, so today I did a heavy 60′s kitten flick with some matte peachy skin and lips. The 1960′s was easily the hottest makeup decade ever.

On the eyes I first use a black pencil to make a thick winged liner, a point on the inner corner and lined the waterlines. I then packed a matte black eyeshadow on top and bottom lid. Lastly I blended the edges with a warmer brown on my top lid and a cooler brown on the bottom lid. Only a pencil and three simple eyeshadow placements, you just need some patience blending it all. I could do a video tutorial of this eye look if you’re interested!

The lips are a total mashup, I often do this layering just to get the perfect 60′s matte lipstick. I apply peachy Colourpop BFF (and today also a TheBalm gloss to add more of a beige tone), blot it down with a tissue and dab Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Lover on top to make the lips matte and more of a creamsicle colour. Do you know any lipstick that look like this? Please do tell me in the comments!

Lipstick Queen Velvet Rope Lipstick “Black Tie”

Jag upprepar mig: Lipstick Queen Velvet Rope Lipstick i färgen Black Tie, you’re welcome.

Finns att köpa på brittiska Feelunique, svenska Cow Parfymeri (online samt butik i Stockholm) eller i Cow’s hörna på NK (Göteborg eller Stockholm).

I have written about it before and now it’s time to remind you.. Lipstick Queen has a lipstick line called Velvet Rope, velvety matte little things in brick heavy golden packaging which screams old Hollywood. The formula is super thin and comfortable, you can barely feel it on the lips even though is has a lot of colour, and as a bonus it contains cooling mint which feels just glorious on the lips. They’re of course hella expensive, but this is one of few lipsticks that I really think is worth all that hard earned money.

The colour Black Tie is one of those shades that I love to throw on when I want to look more awake than I really am. It’s a darker blue toned red that really brightens the face, I love smacking it on with more neutral makeup as it’s an epic single player. It doesn’t even feather out during the day so I always wear it without a lip liner. I often wear it at work and I can’t even count how many times I’ve had to write this name down to wondering customers. I repeat myself: Lipstick Queen Velvet Rope Lipstick in the colour Black Tie, you’re welcome.

Buy it from Feelunique (if you’re in Europe) or straight from the Lipstick Queen website.
