What’s been on my lips lately?

I’ve been wearing this lip a lot lately and have gotten SO many questions on it, I’m sorry to say that it’s a combo and not a single lipstick! I wish it was, but I haven’t found anything even close to it sadly. Please leave me a comment below if you have any tips on a lipstick this shade!

The products I’ve been layering are H&M Lip Colour-To-Go in Bonne Vivante (glossy mauve pink) with Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Birkin Brown (matte chestnut brown). Together they create this gorgoeus rosy, super comfortable lip that looks flattering with any makeup look I’ve tried it with. Like a rosier version of my old goodie Dolce Vita from NARS!

I first apply a layer of Bonne Vivante on my lips, blending it in with a finger. Not my colour as anything mauve turns into a weird pink on me, but you mauve lovers have to try it out! This formula is super plush and wonderful.

And then a swipe of Birkin Brown on top, blending that in with a finger aswell. The perfect lip!

I wore the same lip combo in this blog post talking about a pair of super cheap false lashes. Link to blog post here.

Every bright red lippie deserves a bright red blush

…is one of my old mantras. A bright hot lip goes SO well with the same shade on the cheeks, only applied with the lightest hand possible. It is one of the looks I’ve been doing for 10 years and it’s still going strong.

This combo is Charlotte Tilbury Lip Lustre in Red Vixen with NARS Blush in Exhibit A. Two warm leaning neutral reds that I love pairing together.

NARS Blush in Exhibit A applied softly with a fluffy brush. See how it gives the red lip that extra kick?

Phee’s Makeup Tips Pressed Highlighter “Mariposa”

I have been CAKING the Phee’s Makeup Tips Pressed Highlighter in Mariposa on my face lately, those of you who follow me on Instagram (@killercolours) know that already. It’s a beautiful lavender pinky purple highlighter that sparkles like crazy, definitely more on the Ice Queen of Narnia side of things than bare skinned inner glow blabla. Exactly how I want things to look right now. Go get it (and her other beautiful products) at her webshop!

Apart from the highlighter I’m wearing the Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Bronze 03 and NARS Blush in Sin. And oh, that perfect pink matte lipstick? More about that soon!

I finished 3 basic staple products within the same week?!

They all just.. ran out. I had to pop into my backup stash three times this week to get my fix! After trying a zillion beauty products through the years you just end up sticking to certain things (aka the irreplaceable gold medalists), I get the itch just by thinking of being without these three.

finsihed 3 staple products

I’m planning on saving Selma though, she’s still going strong.

Pixi Glow Tonic

A toner heavy in aloe vera (calming) and witch hazel (tightening, calming) with 5% glycolic acid (exfoliating). My skin is so sensitive these days, even the wrong side of a cotton pad can leave my skin burning, but it still loves this toner! By using this daily I have been able to skip all other kinds of gritty or acid/enzyme packed face scrubs, it exfoliates mildly but effective enough to keep my skin in a solid well-exfoliated state. I apply it with a cotton pad after cleansing with a balm in the evening, and some days in the morning after a splash of cold water. Always followed by a good serum and cream. Rallelujah.

Kevyn Aucoin The Volume Mascara

A tubing mascara (comes off like little pantyhose with warm water and a cotton pad, no smudging!) with the thinnest, loveliest wand ever. I’ve never found a quicker mascara for creating heavy pitch black lashes, it basically applies itself. I’m not even smudging my lower lashline with this wand, after all these years I still can’t apply mascara with a regular brush without making a mess but with this one I can. Haha. Review and demo here!

Rouge Bunny Rouge Impalpable Finishing Powder Diaphanous

Invisible face powder. If you thought that your 100% silica powders like MUFE HD were smooth, fine and invisible you just haven’t tried this one. I often find the HD powders having a scary texture, they fly everywhere so that I breathe them in when I use them and they feel stiff and dry on my skin. The Impalpable Finishing Powder is just.. invisible. It takes the shine of my foundation down to a satin matte and keeps it like that all day without turning into an even goopier mess after a few hours. Fills in pores and fine lines beautifully (undereye heaven!) and doesn’t reflect white in photos.
