Dusty Rose

Over the last few days I’ve done this top heavy smokey winged eye a bunch of times, it’s a really simple yet impactful eye that takes close to no time. Would  you like to see a video tutorial maybe? I’m thinking about doing one!

I’ve also had a thing for Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso lately, holy shit this colour is GOOD. Pinks always make me look ruddy and tired (just look at how that “dusty rose” lipstick turns mauve on me, hello purple town!!) so these glowy apricots are the shit for blowing life back into fair skin that doesn’t respond well on pink. Try it out if you haven’t already!

Minor Crisis

I got my shit together and washed every. single. makeup. brush. I. own. today. That scores so many grown up points I deserve to watch cartoons in bed for four months or something, because usually I just wash the important brushes when I need them, now I just mangled through every single one I own, dirty from makeup or not, which easily takes an hour all together.

Here’s the smart thing though: Doing exactly that right before getting ready to go out. WITH WHAT TOOLS? In other words, todays makeup was done all without brushes! That’s one of the classic YouTube makeup challenges, isn’t it?

Foundation, concealer, cream blush and powder was applied with a Beauty Blender sponge (I usually do this so no problem), I swapped my regular brow powder for a pencil (scary but I survived), used a liquid liner for my top lids and applied shadow + highlighter to the lower lid with a cotton bud (oh the early teenage feels!!). It feels like I did quite well?

Graphite

Since Ida did her sparkly black cat eye+red lip look a while ago I’ve been thinking a lot about the classic black+red combo, and yesterday when I sat down to do my makeup I felt it was time for that full on smokey eye. I wanted to do black with charcoal sparkle, a really really deep grey that will enhance the black. And of course I also ended up dunking the inner corners with holo glitter. Yep.

I used pitch black Sugarpill Bulletproof (for the first time in ages, it is so good!!) as the main part of the look, while Graphite (230) from KIKO (I did a Water Eyeshadow overview in yesterdays post, check it out!) is what I applied on the inner half of the lids, I applied it wet with a small brush to get them most out of that charcoal sparkle. The absolute inner corner is Lit Cosmetics Cher #4, a gritty holographic silver glitter.

And a little trick: I finished this look off by blending some bronzer along the edges of the smokey eye to make the black appear.. blacker. I always find that it does. If I only blend a black out by itself or with a cool brown the edges turns blue on me, it just drains the energy from my face. The bronzer really helps keep the intensity. Try this trick if you can’t get the black or grey smokey eye to work!

We are the new diabolic

Another example of what can happen when my fingers start itching. I poured a glass of red and blasted Slipknot anno 2004 embarrassingly loud, busted out a handful of pretty glitters and just let stuff happen. Key word I had in mind: Smokey lips. Is it a thing? Can it be a thing? I’ll make it a thing.

The product list is a bit weird today aswell because I applied things kind of everywhere, but I’d say overall that the look consists of shading with the Viseart Neutral Matte Palette (cool browns and black) and the Sigma Lip Base in Rhapsody (dark berry), highlights and overall dimensional glow with the Urban Decay Moondust Palette (coppery pinks) then a bunch of glitters all over the eyes. For the white lashes I first run a spoolie with white eye pencil on it through the lashes, then pushing a white eyeshadow on top on a stiff shadow brush.

Dirt

Today I just let my hands loose and they created this. Almost every product is applied and blended with only fingers, I tried to skip makeup brushes as much as possible as I often find that they make me overthink things. I sense some kind of evil fairy vibe? Halloween is in the air.

The product list is a bit strange as I sandwiched all kinds of products all over the face  so I’m sorry if it isn’t too helpful. Haha. Just use whatever you have at home and get creative!
