Here’s the makeup look I featured in my Urban Decay Moondust Palette review last week! It’s a base of black eye pencil with a taupe eyeshadow in the crease, then Magnetic from the Moondust Palette all over the lids, a tiny bit of Galaxy on the outer corners and Specter on the inner.

I hope you can catch a glimpse of how insane the sparkle is, the blurry pictures are the best ones in that matter.

What’s in my travel makeup bag?

Last weekend Jerry and I went to Copenhagen for a few days, here’s everything I packed makeup and skincare wise! All products are listed below.

travel makeup bag

Here’s everything I packed, do you pack more or less than this for a weekend?

  • Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial Wash. A creamy cleanser that doesn’t irritate or dry my skin out.
  • Pixi Glow Tonic. Glycolic acid (AHA) toner that exfoliates the skin and makes it look and feel fresher.
  • Sunday Riley Artemis Hydroactive Cellular Face Oil. A face oil with black cumin and brightening citruses, can’t live without.

  • Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer “Fair Neutral”. A thin and soft concealer with great coverage, works perfectly fine dabbed all over so I skipped bringing a foundation.
  • Milani Baked Blush “Luminoso”. Glowy peach blush, basically blush and highlighter in one.
  • Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Quad “Smoke”. A slim eyeshadow quad that I can do both brows and some simple eye looks with.
  • Milani Brow Shaping Clear Gel. Favourite brow gel for keeping them in place all day.
  • IsaDora Perfect Contour Kajal Waterproof “Black”. In case I would care to do a smokey eye. I didn’t.
  • IsaDora Insane Volume Lash Styler Mascara. Current favourite.
  • H&M Lip Saviour Balm “Sepia Tint”. A really soft and hydrating rosy lip balm.

  • Beauty Blender Pro. A makeup sponge, just picked the closest one I had on hand. I prefer the pink as it’s a bit softer in texture.
  • Ecotools The Lovely Looks Five Piece Brush Set. Minus the mini flat foundation brush. A tiny but still totally useable set.
  • Zoeva Vegan 235 Contour Shader. A stiff angled brush that is great for smudging lashlines, a must have recently.
  • Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush. Great for both applying and blending.

It all fits perfectly in this cute faux leather makeup bag from KICKS. Available at the KICKS webshop, link here!

Urban Decay Moondust Palette

Moondust Palette is one of the most recent releases from Urban Decay, a palette of 8 gritty multidimensional glitter eyeshadows that will blow your Bowie feels through the roof.

I’d say that you should expect to layer it over a darker base or eyeshadow as these are quite sheer on their own (plus can give you quite a bit of fallout!), but with some help underneath the glitter is unreal for an eyeshadow, it’s like nothing else I own! See it as a topcoat for your eyelids and you’ll get the most amazing effects ever.

This eyeshadow formula is a real Urban Decay oldie (I reviewed the shade Solstice here earlier for example), released under the name Stardust Eyeshadow in 2010 if I’m not mistaken, which was revamped and now called Moondust. This palette contains all new shades that you can’t find in the permanent range, and as the singles are quite damn expensive ($21/190 SEK for 1.5 grams) this palette is a bargain ($49/495 SEK for 5.6 grams) if you want to try a bunch of shades.

The packaging of the Moondust Palette is, as always with Urban Decay, just amazing.

Some of the shades have a beautiful duochrome effect, it’s really hard to capture the sparkle in pictures but I hope you get the feeling!

In all: this palette is not for those who want a polished elegant effect, expect some rock n’ roll grit.

Top row of the palette swatched both on bare skin and over a black eye pencil so you can see how the dark base brings out the sparkle. The only one that I think is the best on its own is Specter.

An eyeshadow look created with the palette, here I’m wearing a black pencil as a base all over the lids, then layered Magnetic all over the lids with a dab of Galaxy on the outer corners, and Specter on the inner. Full blog post about this makeup will be up soon!

KICKS “Lace” + IsaDora Gel Nail Lacquer Matt Top Coat

I have never been that interested in matte nails because all matte top coats turn shiny at the tips within hours. Plus they always dry slowly and turn gunky on the nails. UNTIL this fall when IsaDora launched their Gel Nail Lacquer Matt Top Coat, designed to go on top of their gel line but it works just as well on top of any other nail polish. The picture you see below is how matte the nails are after 24 hours, still totally flat! It dries quickly and it really helps the nail polish wear longer. Best matte top coat yet, hands down.

And that colour by the way, Lace from the KICKS fall collection! It’s a fleshy medium rose shade, really weird and classic at the same time. Loving it with a matte finish, it looks like an expensive hipster couch. 10/10.

NARS Sculpting Multiple Duo

New in! Sculpting Multiple Duo from NARS is a sleek little duo with their old classics, the Multiple. A cream product that comes in a bunch of colours and different finishes to bring light, shadow and colour to the skin. Super easy to blend out and doesn’t leave a greasy film on the skin, more like a cream to powder finish. These duos are new for fall 2016 and I have two of the three available combos here to show you!

Playa Flamenco/Oahu is the one on top, it contains a glowy pale peachy gold and a matte bronze. I haven’t tried this combo on my face yet, but I’m not sure the dark shade (Oahu) will work well on me, but we’ll see! Would probably work without a flinch on a medium skin tone, just smack it on and blend and you will have that perfect bronze goddess look. The highlighter (Playa Flamenco) is to die for, it’s the smoothest one of all of these and gives a subtle wet look sheen.

Copacabana/Sidari Beach is my immediate favourite with its glowy pale champagne and light/medium peach tone with a satin finish. This duo is great for fair skin, the darker of the two (Sidari Beach) is perfect for sculpting fair skin, I wore it the other day and really loved the unusual yet natural look. The highlighter (Copacabana) is not as smooth in this duo, it’s more of a fine sparkle than a wet look. Copacabana is the only shade that you can buy as a single, the rest are new.
