Burn baby burn

Okay we all loved Stranger Things, but who’s into the new Netflix series The Get Down? We binge watched it last week and now I suffer(?) from brutal 70′s fever. If you have a day or two to kill you know what I want you to watch. I put on my my disco diva Bronx 1977 face just to feel a little better about the fact that we have to wait so damn long for season 2.

BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss swatches + mini reviews

Kitet går under namnet Thank You Gorgeous och innehåller fem minisar ur standardsortimentet.

Bra deal, eh? Finns kvar på Skincity i skrivande stund.

I’ve always had a complicated relationship to lip glosses. I’m disgusted by sticky messes whether they are sticky and stringy or if they’re “totally non sticky!!” and instead feel like an oily gunk on the lips. There are two inbetweeners that I love though, one of them is sheer glosses that feel like lip balm on the lips, perfect to just throw on as a “nothing lip”. I also like the thicker cushiony ones that plump your lips, they create a vinyl-esque film on the lips that stays softly in place.

In lipgloss category 2 I’ve had a ruling queen for many years, and it’s the Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss from BareMinerals. They hug the lips and just beg all the dry crustiness for forgiveness? They have a fresh minty scent and tingle nicely on the lips, nothing painful, just a comfortable toothpaste-y feeling. I also don’t worry about throwing them on before going out for a beer, they don’t smear everywhere like some glosses do.

Swedish skincare webshop Skincity has a 3 for 2 thing with BareMinerals at the moment and I just couldn’t help myself, I finally got the Thank You Gorgeous set from last christmas. It contains five minis from the regular Moxie gloss line. A great deal for anyone who has realized how much crap ends up in a lip gloss when you use it regularly (don’t think about it, you will get grossed out!!) and would prefer a smaller gloss that you could use up before it gets gross.

The kit is still available for Swedes at the Skincity webshop, check with your local website/counter to see if you can still get it, otherwise you can get the shades as full sizes from the regular BareMinerals range.

Bare lips for reference.

bareminerals marvelous moxie lip gloss show off swatch

BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss in Show Off. A light shimmery warm pink. This is the only shade that I don’t find matches the quality of the rest. From afar it looks great, but close up you can see that it gathers in the lines of the lips and clings on slightly to drier areas. It still is a very light colour for my lips though, and most brands would have a shade that looked fare worse than this so it’s still quite OK. But not Marvelous Moxie standard.

bareminerals marvelous moxie lip gloss hot shot swatch

BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss in Hot Shot. A warm coral pink without shimmer. This one is EXACTLY what Marvelous Moxie is about, see how it just makes everything look plumped and soft? Perfect shade for anyone who would want an “everyday pink”.

bareminerals marvelous moxie lip gloss spark plug swatch

BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss in Spark Plug. A shimmery caramel beige. Compare this one to pink Hot Shot and see what the shimmers can do, they bring so much luminosity to the lips and still keeping them smooth looking. Love this shade too, it’s great for anyone who prefers warm toned neutrals! Would love this with a black smokey eye and bronzed cheeks.

bareminerals marvelous moxie lip gloss maverick swatch

BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss in Maverick. A deeper caramel pink, no shimmer. Perfect for those who can’t wear the Kylie Jenner mauve without looking drowned and purple (well that’s me). My favourite out of these! Looks scary in the tube but amazing on the lips.

BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss in Daredevil. A shimmery berry pink. I’m so weak for these shades, I love when glosses look like cherry jam on the lips. Not too original but still spot on!

H&M Beauty Precious Glow Collection

I picked up some products from the new H&M Beauty makeup collection for fall 2016 called Precious Glow. Metallic everything, you know I’m on it! Apart from these three items I got there are lipsticks, eyeshadows, a cream highlighter, makeup bags, a lot of stuff! Plus of course multiple shades of everything. Out in stores now. Let’s check them out!

h&m beauty gilded brow tint electrum, treasured eye gems crystalline, dazzle lip topper glisten up

H&M Beauty Gilded Brow Tint in Electrum, Treasured Eye Gems in Crystalline, Dazzle Lip Topper in Glisten Up.

h&m beauty treasured eye gems crystalline

H&M Beauty Treasured Eye Gems in Crystalline. Loose opalescent and silver rhinestones in varying shapes and sizes that you can glue onto any eye makeup look. 16 year old me cries with joy!

h&m beauty gilded brow tint electrum

H&M Beauty Gilded Brow Tint in Electrum. A brow gel with copper sparkles. Who doesn’t want sparkly brows?!?

h&m beauty dazzle lip topper glisten up

H&M Beauty Dazzle Lip Topper in Glisten Up. This one is a water thin product that you apply on top of your lipsticks for an opalescent look. It dries down quickly but not as a liquid lipstick, more like a.. watery eyeshadow or something? Never seen anything like it before! My bottle leaked a drop now and then when closed, not sure if it’s just mine but still worth noting.

The rhinestones will have to wait for another look! Eye makeup is Bitter and Flame from the Urban Decay Vice 4 palette with NYX Slide-On Pencil in Golden Bronze.

Kiss

Glitter is so damn mischievous, it looks magical in person and when it’s in front of a camera it starts looking like flat plastic dots. I did this smokey eye the other day and really loved it, but of course I had problems photographing it. I hope the awesomeness of this red sparkle against the black wet eyeshadow really comes through!

I just found the perfect product for glossy skin/eyes by the way! Lip gloss is too sticky, lip balm/vaseline feels like a sin on the face, but hello, Rose O12 Moisture Defence Oil from REN Skincare! I applied a sheer base without powder, distributed a drop of oil between the palms of my hands and pushed it onto the high points of the face. For the eyes I applied and smudged shimmery steel grey Marc Jacobs Twinkle Pop in Stardust messily along the lashlines, then dabbed another drop of oil on with my fingers before the glitter. It doesn’t wear very well in the long run, but no wet look will.
