Love Letter

There have been so many weird and dramatic looks with lots of colour and grungy smudginess here lately that i’ve felt is time for something ehh, classic and pretty! I rarely do those full on sculpted eyeshadow looks, but I always love wearing them.

I also wanted to do a look with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette (my in-depth video review of it here!) showing that it is totally possible to create something with it without going rusty. The palette has a very rusty vibe at first glance, but there are some neutral/cool tones in there that work beautifully together.

In all the look consists of Primavera on the lids, Warm Taupe in the crease, Cyprus Umber in the deepest crease + along the lashline and Love Letter under the eye.

Aaand the lip colour is that magical combo I wrote a blog post about recently, you can find it here.

Regal Rose Celest necklace

I rarely wear jewellery at all, and I write even less about it, but when I do – REGAL ROSE! I have been eyeing the beautiful Celest necklace over the last year without getting around to ordering it, and after Christmas when I landed a discount code I finally clicked the button. I’m so happy I did, it is gorgeous!

A few days ago I was surprised with a second discount code in my inbox, use FRIEND22ZEMAIL at to get 10% off your order!

And in case it’s unclear: I’m not affiliated with them (you know I would tell you if I were). ;*

Buxom Big & Sexy™ Bold Gel Matte Lipstick “Evocative Petal”

Finally the long awaited brand Buxom launched at my local KICKS (KICKS Nordstan in Gothenburg, also available online) and of course I couldn’t keep from browsing meticulously. My first impression was that they struck gold with the Big & Sexy™ Bold Gel Lipstick line (HELLO tacky name) as well as with the eyeshadow palette system – more on that later.

Buxom Big & Sexy™ Bold Gel Lipstick is said to be a lightweight gel lipstick with bold, one-stroke color in matte and satin finishes, and I would definitely agree. The matte formula is actually quite similar to NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil which I love deeply, it has a super thin slippery feeling on the lips – without being glossy – leaving them smooth and plump without accentuating dry areas on the lips. My only complaint is the bullet shape, it is quite hard to get a nice lip shape with that circular flat surface. Costs 225 SEK at KICKS.

As I swatched my way through the lipsticks I immediately fell for the shade Evocative Petal, thinking it would be a great toned down bright shade. I wasn’t wrong! It has sort of a muted reddish coral vibe, which on me ends up looking surprisingly rosy. I can imagine it leaning quite warm on cooler fair skin tones though, turning more of a classic coral. It definitely has similarities to my old fave NARS Dolce Vita, being the same kind of warm-yet-cool and bright-yet-neutral.

Penhaligon’s Lothair Eau de Toilette

Back in 2014 the British luxury perfume house Penhaligons (founded in 1870, hello national treasure!) released a line of scents inspired by the decadent commodities of the 19th century, traded at the London docks. Four scents delivering the feel of exotic spices, luxurious fabrics and the blackest of tea (slavery and blood money aside?). Lothair has been my best companion through December, I have worn it all throughout the month and it just keeps delivering.

Inspired by the famous Tea Clipper Ships that navigated the globe to bring exotic wares to British shores, Lothair opens with the salty tang of grapefruit and juniper, and a brilliant green sensation from fig leaf. The smoky heart of black tea is softened by fig milk and magnolia, sailing into an ambergris, cedar and wenge woods base, reminiscent of the varnished decks of these elegant ships.

- Penhaligon’s

On me Lothair starts off with a burst of dry citrus wrapped in a chilly herbal juniper, super fresh and vibrant. Within moments it starts drying down to a black tea with fig, imitating a dry assam with a splash of creamy milk. All rounded off by a soft salty ambregris and  that hugs my skin so close it doesn’t even feel like a perfume, more like actual sun warmed skin.

Overall a sheer and fresh composition that manages to deliver depth and dimension, not heavy or rude at all as it stays close to the skin. The soft appeal gives it lesst lasting power, but a second spray after five hours to top it up is totally fine by me.

Available through, 100 ml EdT for £128.
