Balm Jovi

This has started to turn into a thing! I show you a product on Instagram (@killercolours) and ask you how to wear it, then I pick inspiration from that and do a makeup look. Yesterdays subject was the Balm Jovi Rockstar Palette from TheBalm! Review and pictures of it here, go enjoy the puns! You were very into the colour Alice Copper, so I thought I should do a rosy brightening eye defined with that rusty red.

The problem is that some of these eyeshadows don’t layer very well, once I have eyeshadow on in one place no more eyeshadow really adheres. So uhm, it ended up being mostly Third Eye Blinded (middle of the lid), Blink 1982 (outer part of the lid) and Metal-Ica (inner corner) that showed up. But Alice Copper is there aswell, I promise! Lol.

Cailyn Cosmetics Dizzolv’it Makeup Melt Cleansing Balm

Cailyn Cosmetics Dizzolv’it Makeup Melt Cleansing Balm in 100 and 50ml. Choose your weapon.

Let me go on about this product one more time, okay? My best friend ever when it comes to taking off makeup is Dizzolv’it from Cailyn Cosmetics. It’s a cleansing balm, in other words a solid cleanser that melts into an oil on the skin and cleanses without harsh foaming agents. Don’t be afraid of the oily part, because if the product is well made it rinses off easily. That’s exactly the thing about lovely Dizzolv’it, the formula is frickin delicious! In a few seconds it has dissolved all makeup and slides around on the skin, a perfect time to give yourself a little facial massage (there are great guides on YouTube). The easiest thing is to do this before hopping in the shower, face and hands have to be dry when the balm is massaged on, otherwise it starts dissolving!

When you’re done with the massage just get in the shower or rinse over the sink. Immediately when the oil gets in contact with water it turns into a white milk that just runs off the skin. You’re left with smooth and supple skin, not a trace of oil or makeup!

This is the only cleanser, I mean the only one ever, that I can follow up with a toner and the cotton pad is left 100% clean. No lip glosses or lipsticks need to be wiped off on forehand, no waterproof mascaras or liners leave a grey shadow at the base of the lashes, nothing! It doesn’t sting the eyes either so you can really massage it in thorougly.

As an extra plus it’s perfume free, it only smells a little sweet from the fruit extracts that it contains, for example papaya which exfoliates the skin mildly and acerola which is packed with vitamin C. Full INCI at the bottom of this post!

I have maybe three uses left in my small 50ml tub that I’ve used daily for a few months, so this time I went for the large 100ml instead. I do NOT want to stand without this one. You can order it at the Cailyn Cosmetics website.

The small one looks so cute now that I have the mega jar. Such tiny!

Let’s demonstrate! Here we have a smudge proof, waterproof eye pencil and a pea size amount of the Cailyn Dizzolv’it (this amount would be enough for an entire face!)

Dizzolv’it massaged in, quickly dissolving the eye pencil. The consistency is like a thin oil at this stage.

Add a little water and the oil turns into a milk that easily rinses off.

Makeup look + mini review of Cailyn Cosmetics Gel Eyeshadow Pencil and Eyebrow Duo

Cailyn Cosmetics has the best cleansing balm ever, after discovering that it went downhill. Every time I visit the little Pure Cosmetic store in Gothenburg I get sucked in and end up trying new stuff. This time it was a beautiful plum toned Gel Eyeshadow Pencil in Charming, perfect for enhancing green eyes without smacking bright purple on your face. Here I’m wearing it quite heavily applied, I worked in layers and blended it out between the coats to get a softer effect. You could of course apply a thin sharp line if you prefer that look, or layer it with other eyeshadows/pencils.

I’m also trying the Eyebrow Duo in Brunette (which is far too coppery for actual brunettes). Since I dyed my hair this bright copper shade the only thing that matched my brows well was a not very well pigmented brow powder from a huge Viva la Diva palette, this one is about the same shade but much more handbag/travel friendly as it’s just like a little single eyeshadow. It’s very pigmented which is great, but on the other hand it’s very soft and powdery. When I dab my angled brush in it kicks up a bunch of powder so you can’t just mush the bristles in there, but a tiny dab coats an entire eyebrow. Pros and cons!

Angel Food Cake

I’ve worn this purple eyeshadow from Makeup Geek called Prom Night a lot lately, it’s a shimmery taupe/brown/silver/purple and that complexity makes it super versatile. When I want to enhance the purple tones I tend to use Sensous on the outer corners, not because it’s a good eyeshadow (I don’t think it is, honestly) but because the tone of it goes so well with Prom Night. Then I blend it all out with my bronzer.

I still can’t get enough of purple and green together, I wear it all the time! With a purple this muted I wanted a similarly muted green, so I went for olive green eyeliner this time. Grarggglhglhllll so good.

Aaaaand I want to mention the lip gloss, can we just agree on Angel Food Cake being the perfect pink lippie? Ok? Ok.
