Classic Rose

Todays makeup was quick and easy, I wanted  to wear something very neutral yet 1960′s inspired. framed eyes with big lashes (could I ever live without this mascara?), a plain cheek and neutral creamy lips. The lipstick is Classic Rose from KIKO Cosmetics which I showed you yesterday, it’s the perfect MLBB (my lips but better) shade on me!

The Maria Åkerberg Foundation comes in a sleek plastic pump bottle, love the simple design.

My naked skin, only prepped with moisturizer. It’s a bit red around the nose and just “speckled” overall because of the translucency in my skin.

Maria Åkerberg Foundation in Natural mixed about 50/50 with Face Atelier Ultra Foundation in 0-, a white tone made for lightening foundations. Looks and feels great! Corrected, yet a very natural effect where the skin shows through.

And Maria Åkerberg Foundation in Natural applied alone.. HAHA. Universal shade.. The skin texture is still great though! ;D

Sometimes you can feel right from the beginning that something will go wrong. That’s what I felt with the foundation line from Maria Åkerberg that contains three shades, Warm, Cold and Neutral. The three undertones are supposed to be universal shades that morphs to match your own skintone when applying it. Because a foundation can’t think or analyse a skintone that argument is done, unless it means that it’s sheer enough to match a lot of skintone once applied. It isn’t, it has more of a medium coverage.

If we back away from the promises and look at the product alone we don’t have the same fail rate. If one of the three shades match you or if you have something to mix and lighten/darken the tone it’s a nice moisturizing foundation that feels like a face cream on the skin. It doesn’t cling to dry patches and sinks in nice and comfortable. The formula is a bit glowy (but no shimmer) and would work best for dry or aged skin, I would have wanted a formula like this one in winter, it might get too sticky in the summer sun.

So I chose the shade Natural which is supposed to have a neutral undertone, that was totally accurate! My skin is neutral with an ashy, almost olive undertone and many foundations that are called neutral are often still too “bright” in colour for me. Diluted 50/50 with white this foundation is totally right on my skin. I will not run out of this one quickly in other words!

My favourite “no blush” cheek combo right now

When I want luminous neutral cheeks and not bright and blushed this is what I’m wearing. Manasi Makeup Lyster Cream Bronzer swept over my cheekbones, softly across my nose and in my temples, then pink toned Illamasqua Gleam Cream in Flex on my cheeks as a highlighter.

Serge Lutens De Profundis

“As long as I’m alive, so is my Death.
Every hero on a quest for glory is racing towards the proof of his mortality.”

The perfume comes in a 75ml bell bottle with a glass stopper, no spray function.

“As long as I’m alive, so is my Death.
Every hero on a quest for glory is racing towards the proof of his mortality.”

Those are the words that Serge Lutens use to describe this scent created by perfumer Christopher Sheldrake. Where do you draw the line between perfume and scent roleplaying?

De Profundis is a melancholic little creation, a transparent beauty with eyes of glass and wrists like sparrow legs, wrapped in frost bitten black chiffon. Soapy crisp bulbous plants blooming at the edge of the snow during late march. The soil is cold but there’s a faint whisper about the approaching crystal clear rebirth of what has died. Many books and poems could be written based on this scent and I would read every one of them, until then I’d say that it’s the pure essence of Edgar Allan Poes Evening Star.

I love dressing in De Profundis, she provides me with this little bubble of my own. With a semi-short wear time and high price this becomes an expensive love, but I’m thankful for my dark purple drops. You can find the scent at the Serge Lutens webshop.
