Too Faced The Chocolate Shop Palette for holiday 2016

The Chocolate Shop Palette from the Too Faced holiday 2016 collection called Christmas in New York. The palette with at least three lives.

At first I saw it online, thought it was tacky and passed on. Got my hands on it and just had to change my mind, it IS frickin adorable and the shade selection is great. …Then I started swatching it, and over 50% of them swatched pretty bad. Crap I thought, it was bad.  ….Then I wore it on my eyes (see the looks at the bottom of the post!) and they applied with zero problems on the eyes, even the shitty ones.

So there we go, it kept surprising me and I’m so happy about it, it is definitely wish list worthy!

The palette contains 21 cocoa infused eyeshadows, 1 highlighter, 1 bronzer and 1 blush. You also get 3 minis in this kit, a Shadow Insurance Eye Shadow Primer, the Better Than Sex Mascara and Melted Chocolate Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Milkshake.

I have no Swedish pricing on it but Sephora US will sell it for $58. Exclusive at Sephora, limited edition and will be out in time for christmas!

The kit is displayed as a cute little gift box.

Tadaaaa!! The display is so damn sweet.

Here you can see the 3 minis displayed, so cute! No chocolate for you, lil’ doggy.

And here’s the palette, you can pop it out of the box, you won’t have to carry the bulky gift box with you.

And here’s the inside! You get a good variation of neutrals, some of them are more blingy and fun while some are super soft and simple. The pop of colour on the bottom row really helps bring the composition to life.

Dessert’s on me (satin white, swatches horrible but wonderful on the eyes, so weird), Indulge, Cookie Dough (shittiest shade of the entire palette), Raspberry Rose, Sugared Raisin (SO SPARKLY), Guilt-Free (horrible name much?), Tootsie (most useful shade of the entire palette imho).

Glaze, Gingerdoodle (WOW!), Chocaholic, Cake Batter (looks crappy but it’s the perfect blending shade on fair skin, works so well on the eyes!), Butterscotch (possibly the best shade of the entire palette), Toffee Crunch, Lava Cake (STOP making these glittery mattes please?? they shed glitters as if it was dandruff).

Banana Date, Honey Dip (WOW!), Pound Cake (beautiful duochrome pink/gold!), Sugar Bells, Mint Chip (WOW!), Jingle Berry (WOW!), Huckleberry (another shitty matte sparkle shade, just DON’T!)

Inner Light (highlighter, swatched fucked up bad but works totally fine on the face, so weird that it doesn’t turn to shit on the face after such a scaly swatch??), Chocolate Soleil (bronzer, same as the classic original), Chocolate Covered Strawberry (blush, velvety and beautiful, perfect glowy pink shade with a soft red hue that really flatters my skin tone)

Shadow Insurance Primer (an oldie that changed formula like.. five years ago and just doesn’t measure up to what it was, but sure, better than nothing), Better Than Sex Mascara (0ld fave, even though I found that it applied thinner than I’m used to with the BTS mascara?), Melted Chocolate Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Milkshake (set into my lip lines only during taking these photos, not too impressed)

The shimmery lids are a fade from Butterscotch to Honey Dip to Gingerdoodle. The matte dark brown in the lower lashline and crease is Tootsie, inner corner and brow highlight is Dessert’s On Me and everything is blended out with Cake Batter. Cheeks are bronzed, blushed and highlighted with the cheek products in all these pictures.

And here I spiced the look up with Mint Chip in the outer corner and crease, Jingle Berry along the lower lashline and Sugar Bells as a inner corner hlighlight.

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Sex Machine, Dolce Vita & Red Square

Velvet Matte Lip Pencil from NARS is one of my everyday favourites, they are lip crayons with a thin, almost silicone like slip and a matte finish. Super comfortable and easy to wear if you don’t want a high maintenance lip. It doesn’t have the stiff waxy feeling of a retro matte lipstick and not the crumbly crap you get from a liquid lipstick either. Try them out if you haven’t already!

Available at Sephora.

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Sex Machine, Dolce Vita, Red Square. Here you can see the difference in opacity very clearly, the first two have more of a thin and natural finish while the red is more of a classic flat matte.

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Sex Machine. A dirty cool toned pink with slight silver sparkle. A shade of bubblegum pink that I can actually wear! It doesn’t turn into purple corpse lip on me like most of these cool pinks do. The formula is very thin and a bit sheered out so it won’t be like applying white-out on your lips.

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dolce Vita. This shade is so hard to describe, like a beige-y reddish coral-pink? Ehh something like that. My best neutral-yet-coloured lip out there! I have finished this one once so it’s actually my second one. It just works with any look and makes me look more awake. Plus the formula is quite sheer and super thin for being a matte, you won’t even feel it on the lips!

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Red Square. A super bright orange red. This one is more of a classic matte finish, it is a tad thicker than the rest and also more opaque, but it is still super comfortable. The perfect perky orange red! I have only worn this out once so far (held up for 6 hours without a problem, and I both ate and drank!), will do a makeup look using it soon!

Quiver

The summery skin (I don’t even dare to call it a tan) is long gone and I’m feeling the Snow White look again, pale yet fresh and glowy and sheer reds on cheeks and lips. A old favourite combo of mine, but I think it’s extra good at this time of year.

I’m on day 7 and my skin has finally stopped flaking after the micro-needle treatment by the way (blog post here), I feel renewed like a little lizard.

We are the new diabolic

Another example of what can happen when my fingers start itching. I poured a glass of red and blasted Slipknot anno 2004 embarrassingly loud, busted out a handful of pretty glitters and just let stuff happen. Key word I had in mind: Smokey lips. Is it a thing? Can it be a thing? I’ll make it a thing.

The product list is a bit weird today aswell because I applied things kind of everywhere, but I’d say overall that the look consists of shading with the Viseart Neutral Matte Palette (cool browns and black) and the Sigma Lip Base in Rhapsody (dark berry), highlights and overall dimensional glow with the Urban Decay Moondust Palette (coppery pinks) then a bunch of glitters all over the eyes. For the white lashes I first run a spoolie with white eye pencil on it through the lashes, then pushing a white eyeshadow on top on a stiff shadow brush.

MicroPen treatment at Gilda Skolan, Gothenburg

I had a MicroPen treatment done at Gilda Skolan here in Gothenburg last Friday, a treatment where you get your face mangled with tiny needles, also called micro-needling. Sounds nice, doesn’t it? The needles penetrate the top surface of the skin creating a controlled damage that will start a healing process in the skin triggering collagen and elastin production. You will be left with plumped, less textured skin, of course better results the more times you get the treatment done but do expect a glow boost right away. It is ideal for anyone who wants to soften wrinkles, tighten loose skin, improve the appearance of large pores or get rid of acne scars.

One treatment is 1100 SEK at the Gilda student salon, you can get three treatments for 2850 SEK. More info on the Gilda website.

My main interest was to boost the glow, but also to mangle the beginning frown line between my eyebrows. I always walk around looking pissed because I can’t relax my forehead properly, and I just don’t want it to become a permanent feature. Any tips on that one?

The treatment started with a cleanse and AHA acid mask to exfoliate, then a gel serum applied during needling. After the needling you get a comfy hydrating mask to calm the skin down. We decided on going for 0.5 mm needle depth as I had no problem with the pain level (I can’t help comparing it to tattoo mangling which is a million times worse), it felt a bit weird on the cheekbones and on the bony part right above the brow, but the meaty parts of the face aswell as neck/decolletage was like a massage. In all the needling took about 10 minutes.

The day of + the day after my skin felt a bit raw, but already at day two I clearly felt and saw the plumping effect. Mainly between the brows, which now 5 days later still feels just as smooth so it wasn’t just swelling. A solid improvement! Over the last 24 hours my skin has been really itchy and flaky from healing, All I’m doing at the moment is packing the skin with the Gilda Calming Mask and sunscreen, so I guess I’ll get a really nice glow once it has healed up and I can go back to my AHA acids again. Looking forward to it!

So, overall I had a great experience. If I didn’t have to spend my money on boring grown up stuff (like ehh food and living costs??) I’d be there doing this every single month, no question about it. Expensive but worth every single penny.

Have you tried micro-needling? How was your experience?

Cheese grater, anyone? The flakes are at their absolute worst today, 5 days after micro-needling.
