Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick “Lovecraft”

I have mentioned it before but I’ll say it again: Well named products is a f*ing open goal for makeup companies. I have written about the Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadow line before and how all the names just make me crazy, same thing applies to her whole damn line. She is the product naming queen.

The Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick line is a complete hit and miss, some shades are flawless retro style matte (available in both shimmery and non-shimmery shades) that wear super well, while some are rubbery and chalky, 100% impossible to wear. Sparkly inky blue Poe is a great example of that horrible formula aswell as a great example of a well named product that I just HAD to have. Bad combo. The ashy cool toned pink called Lovecraft hits home though, the formula is flawless and the name completely lured me in. GOOD combo! It’s not even a shade that I tend to wear, it’s a bit too purple tinged for my taste, but who cares?

Hyperballad

I’ve had a major Björk moment this spring and summer. I don’t know what it is, she has been a huge inspiration of mine for so so so many years, but this year she has been extra important. I have mentioned before being incredibly inspired by Vulnicura, her latest album, and did a makeup look based on the song Family back in July.

The song Hyperballad has been running through my mind a lot lately. It’s about a couple living on a big cliff, she wakes up early every morning throwing things off the cliff while imagining how her body would sound like slamming against those rocks. I go through all this before you wake up so I can feel happier to be safe up here with you. This song just grabs a hold of me with its brittleness, I have probably heard it a million times now, but it still gives me the most pleasant chills. Exactly the kick that my (currently very low level of) inspiration needed.

I felt the urgent need to smudge a unforgiving poisonous shade of blue on top of the most organic makeup look I could ever create. The mix of synthetic and organic, mechanical and chaotic, her curious way of exploring those elements is so damn pure. It gets me every time.

Area 51

Area 51 from the the Alien Abduction collection by Meow Cosmetics is fantastic. Just as fantastic as my friend Sofia who gave it to me after I had spotted it in her (massive, nearly erotic) makeup stash and ooh-ed and aah-ed. <3 Thank you sweetheart, I will give it a good home!

It is the perfect sparkly blackened forest green with a drop of teal, which you by now probably understand is my favourite shade for colourful smokey eyes. It’s all I’m wearing on my lids in this look, I just applied a shimmery teal pencil on my waterline and highlighted the inner corner with Mary-Lou then packed on some mascara. So simple!

Urban Decay Razor Sharp Water-Resistant Longwear Liquid Eyeliner “Fireball”

So here it is! Better pics of Urban Decay Razor Sharp Water-Resistant Longwear Liquid Eyeliner in Fireball which I did a makeup look with the other day! An absolutely stunning multichrome eyeliner (shifts between bright yellow gold/rusty copper/garnet red/hot pink!!) that stays put all day long, no joke. I have worn it multiple times by now, every single time without even a inner corner smudge, faded wing or flakiness. Comes in 20 different shades if I’m not mistaken, so you will easily find one for you if this shade doesn’t tickle your pickle.

The applicator is like those old school floppy dip in brushes, just a lot stiffer! It distributes product super evenly and doesn’t skip on the eye as stiff felt tips can do, I was pleasantly surprised by the simple process! It is quite small though, so for someone like me who prefer a thicker line a whopping three re-dips are needed to complete one eye. Not that it really makes a big difference, but worth mentioning.

It was just released at KICKS here in Sweden, so if you’re interested in snagging it it’s time! 210 SEK a pop (check your local Urban Decay counters for price/release date). Enjoy!

Urban Decay Razor Sharp Water-Resistant Longwear Liquid Eyeliner in Fireball. I love when brands colour code their outer packaging to match the product shade, it’s a priceless detail for anyone who has a lot of makeup in their drawers.

The many faces of Fireball. I love how it looks like four completely different liners.

Fireball

I have written about Fireball highlighter from Urban Decay before as you might remember, it’s an apricot base (which makes it work as a blush on fair skin) with bright pinky blue glow. It really is as odd as it is fantastic. Fireball is also available as an eyeshadow, you know more intense and probably a bit creamier, but hello, with the new Razor Sharp Water-Resistant Longwear Liquid Eyeliner release coming to Sweden soon (I think it’s out in the US already?) we get our favourite duochrome shade in pure liquid metal form!! I am so excited I could puke. Blog post with more photos of it will be up soon! Blog post about the eyeliner is up, link to the review here!

This makeup started out as a basic soft brown smokey eye where I half way through started craving the new Fireball liner, so to lay down a matching peachy base I packed Fireball highlighter on the eyelids. With mascara, liner and everything in place I felt that something was missing, so I went in with neon coral Slowburn from the Urban Decay Electric Palette to top off the brown lower lash line. And as you can see – this is the product combo dreams are made of. Duochrome coral dream!
