Det här samtalet mellan Michael Silverblatt och Joan Didion är en hjärtskärande vacker resa i rösters påverkan och interaktion. Slates Sam Anderson beskrev den i en podcast ungefär såhär (mycket slarvigt transkriberat):

“[Michael Silverblatt] is just one of the most earnest and intelligent and appreciative and kind of whispery people you’ll ever hear talking about books. I’ve heard one a couple of months ago that I’ve gone back to 3 or 4 times and it is his interview with Joan Didion about her most recent book Blue Nights. And this interview is so intense, because Silverblatt’s voice is always this kind of hush of reverence, and this time is almost trembling with emotion. And Joan Didion is reading from her book, and as he puts it, the tone of the book is almost as if she’s speaking from beyond life. She’s got this kind of frailty and strength and kind of casualness and profundity happening all at once. [---] And in the end of the interview, she says ‘thank you, Michael’, her voice trails off in the most incredible way, it’s really moving, it’s almost not even a word, it’s like she’s disappearing, not only from your headphones but from the earth”.
