Last days and nights in Biarritz.

Claudia Rodrigues Valencia and Hector Fracisco Cordoba, Colombian directors. I found out I might be screening my film in Bogota in November, maybe I will see them there!A  book suggestion from Thijs,a Dutch director. Natasha Gadd, who together with Rhys directed murundak– Songs of Freedom. One of the many cinemas. Welcoming the 600 people in the audience. It looks rather dramatic. Paloma won the silver FIPA for her fiction, Entre Nosotros!!! Naomi Levarni also won a prize! Time flies! Goodbye Biarritz. Thank you.

Margot and Éliane.

In the completive reportage section at the Festival in Biarritz I saw Wallströms Resolution wish I have been wanting to see for a long time.  It is truly inspiring to follow Margot when she really makes changes. Sexual violence in conflicts have been used as long as war has existed and not only in Congo, Germany and Bosnia. It´s not only a women’s rights issue, but also a human rights issue (which I think most woman rights issues are, how could they not?).  Anyways, see Wallströms Resolution if you get the chance.

“In 2010 Margot Wallström, the first UN special representative on sexual violence in war and conflict, used her mandate to lobby for a resolution, a strategic tool enabling to prosecute those responsible for committing or planning sexual violence in conflicts. The film follows her and her colleagues as they visit rape survivors and frontline activists across the globe. During 10 months, they shine the spotlight when rape is used as a weapon and raise the issue to the top of the UN Security Council’s agenda.” (Below) This film about Élaine Radigue is in the competitive selection in performance art.  The sounds and music really made me nauseas and lightheaded at times. But it  was interesting to follow her story and true passion for “sounds”. I love them nerds.

“Between 1967 and 2000, Éliane Radigue composed more than twenty pieces of electronic music. She stopped working with the analogic synthesizer in 2001, and now devotes herself to instrumental music, still remaining faithful to the same aesthetics.

So far in Biarritz.

Like I mentioned earlier I am in Biarritz at a festival to show my film Taxi Sister.  So far the festival has  been really hectic, fun and French.  There are these really cool trees all over the city. Very surrealistic at night. First day in Biarritz. It feels like spring.  Here I got to know some film students from Colombia, Belgium  and Canada who are in the “young artist division”.

Volker Schlondorff, director of”La Mer à l’Aube”

Véronique Cayla,The boss of the french channel arte.

New friends. Directors from Holland, France and Canada. We are all in the “Creative Documentary” division. The jury, they are quite many. My favorite instrument every night at the evening drink. Here  I talked about my movie for a group of Chinese journalists. I have done a lot of interviews for french media these days. In french. This was a good time. These kids came to the screening and had prepared questions for me about the movie a few hours later.  The screening yesterday went well. It was packed with 600 people, and now I have my second screening, so I have to run! xx Theresa

I am showing Taxi Sister at the FIPA festival in Biarritz this week.  I will put some pictures up as soon as I get a chance to. x Theresa
