Under måndagsnatten svensk tid hölls årets höjdpunkt i modevärlden;The Met Gala på Metropolitan Museum of Art i New York. Galan som varje år ordnas den första måndagen i maj månad, är från början en välgörenhetsgala som samlade in pengar från New Yorks socitet. The Institute of Costume Gala, numera The Met Gala, grundades 1948 av publicisten Eleanor Lambert. I sin nuvarande form innebär The Met Gala att kändisar, artister, modeprofiler och designers kombinerar mode med konst, och varje år kretsar galan kring temat för den kommande utställningen. I år var modehuset Gucci sponsor för utställningen.
Årets tema för galan var "Camp: Notes on fashion", som refererar till Susan Sontags avhandling "Notes on Camp" från 1964. Temat innebär överdrivna siluetter, pastisch, kliché, ironi, humor, extravagans och nostalgi… lite som Met galan är mest, helt enkelt.
Bland den långa och exklusiva gästlistan hittade vi några få svenskar, däribland allas våra queens Alicia Vikander och Robyn. Båda två bar kreationer från Louis Vuitton.
